Simone Mugavin

Simone Mugavin is a Dutch-Irish Australian communications designer and producer. She has over a decade of experience working at the intersection of art, community events, design, storytelling and social change. In her current role with GARUWA, Simone leads research and communications on projects centred on truth telling, cultural dignity, and intercultural collaboration, with recent projects including Power to Country (2023), The Truth About the Telegraph (2024), MAHIKA KAI (2024) and Motherhood in the Colony (2025).

Simone’s practice is rooted in justice-centred storytelling for cultural, social, and environmental change. Deeply listening to communities with lived experience, she amplifies their leadership by connecting them with the resources, networks, and platforms needed to create the change they are seeking. Known for her ability to untangle complexity and translate it into compelling communications, she thrives in the “nuts and bolts” of impact campaigns, designing and implementing strategies that are both practical and beautiful to create pathways for a more just and inclusive future.
