‘The Last Post (Winds of Change)’ combines the didgeridoo and bugle in a harmonious, healing composition that honours the experiences of First Nations and Australian soldiers to highlight the important role of understanding our shared past more clearly.
Developed by Yamitji musician, Mark Atkins, Garrijimanha, Sydney Opera House and Music Producer Ricky Bloomfield, the composition draws on the traditional history of The Last Post whilst celebrating the culture and resilience of Australia’s First Peoples.
GARUWA were engaged to create the accompanying music video and develop a series of interviews that revealed the cross-cultural collaborative process and how the arrangement symbolises a spirit of unity within our First Nation and Non-Indigenous communities moving forward.
